#197 | Peter T. Richardson | Sentence Changes

Submission 197
Peter T. Richardson
First Universalist Church, Rockland, Maine

What is your suggestion or idea?

The Love sections, near beginning of C-2.1 and C-2.2.
Small L in love.
Eliminate middle sentence in love section of C-2.2

As Unitarian Universalists, we covenant, congregation to congregation and through our Association, to support and assist one another in our ministries. Love is the power that holds us together, at the center of our shared values. Accountable to one another, we live our shared values in spiritual values of love.

What is the reason for your amendment idea?

Love is important but don’t run it into the ground. Use a small l unless you imply Divinity, which I hope is not intended.
Eliminate middle love sentence. Too much of a good thing. The other words are all nice but not to the point being made.

I changed a sentence to make it flow.

Have you discussed this idea with your congregation or other UUs?

No. Simply trying to tighten up how this section communicates efficiently.
