What is your suggestion or idea?
Transformation. We adapt to the changing world.
We covenant to collectively transform and grow spiritually and ethically.
Openness to change is fundamental to our Unitarian and Universalist heritages, never complete and never perfect.
We carefully discern when it is time to transform ourselves and our congregations, and when it is time to stand firm and work to transform society.
What is the reason for your amendment idea?
There are many times when we are unsatisfied with the world around us. I want it to be clear that we will not change to fit in when we feel what is going on around us is wrong.
Have you discussed this idea with your congregation or other UUs?
Yes, I participated in a congregational discussion via Zoom and shared my idea. I do not recall any specific comments but nobody disagreed with me, and they did encourage me to submit the change.
