University Unitarian Church (Seattle, WA) 8231
What is your suggestion or idea?
Transformation. We adapt to the changing world.
We covenant to collectively transform and grow spiritually and ethically.
Reformation. We make things better, within our congregations, in our association, and in the world at large.
We covernant to invest in bulding a better tomorrow.
Openness to change is fundamental to our Unitarian and Universalist heritages, never complete and never perfect.
What is the reason for your amendment idea?
The 25-year program of transforming the UU community hasn’t paid off, not even with the last 6 years of redoubled efforts. Meanwhile, we have a proud history of undertaking reforms in the wider world.
Have you discussed this idea with your congregation or other UUs?
Congregants generally consider reform in the wider world to be a higher priority than transforming our own community.
