#428 | Jim Allen | Add Values, not replace

Submission 428
Jim Allen
Auburn Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (Auburn, AL) 1913

What is your suggestion or idea?

If we need to declare ““Values”” to attract more (and younger) members, okay, but just ADD them, do not delete the Principles and Sources.

What is the reason for your amendment idea?

The ““Values”” language is too abstract and vague. The Principles give a much more specific basis for action.

Have you discussed this idea with your congregation or other UUs?

Have talked only with a few UU friends. Sent an email to our e-list urging people to consider, and if Values are to be adopted, to ““vote”” for adding, not deleting, Principles.
