What is your suggestion or idea?
The new words don’t emphasize spirituality specifically. AS a gathering of individuals who are seeking the truth we need to be comfortable that we are trying to understand the role of religion and spirituality in our daily lives and why so many people are enamored by this thought
What is the reason for your amendment idea?
We are shrinking as a congregation. We need to bring people in who are on a quest or are hurting and need pastoral counselling. We also need to be able to celebrate the victories and joys in our lives and offer people opportunities and forums to express and share joys and sorrows.
We also need to differentiate ourselves from purely justice seeking organizations that operate in the civil/political arena.
Have you discussed this idea with your congregation or other UUs?
Yes a large number of people from the congregation feel the same way. We have solicited responses and many have asked for this modification.
