What is your suggestion or idea?

““Use of the Democratic Process”” should be a value. It should be described as ““The democratic process is used for major decisions within congregations and within the Unitarian Universalist Association, whose president is chosen by vote.””

What is the reason for your amendment idea?

The use of the democratic process is one of the most important ways in which Unitarian Universalism is different from other religions. In many other religions, major decisions are made by a church hierarchy. This characteristic of Unitarian-Univeralism is important to current church members and would be important in attracting new members.

Have you discussed this idea with your congregation or other UUs?

No.

As someone who left my UU church due to the lack of democratic practices and processes, I agree and would add that these need to be the BASIS for any and all forms of governance chosen by ALL ou congregations.
