Submission 383
LeRae Niell
Unitarian Universalist Church of Long Beach (Long Beach, CA) 2224
What is your suggestion or idea?
Color the word ““Interdependence”” GREEN in the Logo, rather than orange.
Eliminate one of the blue colors, and then the logo would have only the primary and secondary colors and the descripion would only refer to their simple names: BLUE, GREEN, YELLOW, ORANGE, RED AND PURPLE.
What is the reason for your amendment idea?
The color Green is a visual reminder of our commitment to the Earth, the web of life, and Climate Justice.
The UU Ministry for Earth, and Climate Justice Committees throughout the Congregations concur that green and all it means is urgent!
Clarity of the colors included in the logo is part of readily gaining access for many visual thinkers, albeit a small part. It’s a distraction to pause to see what is left out of this color wheel.
Have you discussed this idea with your congregation or other UUs?
Yes, the Green Team in my congregation definitely wants Interdependence to be Green.
Some others have mentioned wondering why green was omitted and using the six main colors as explained above.
Still others did not mention the colors.
I spoke with three groups I meet with regulary and about 5 other congregants.
