What is your suggestion or idea?
Interdependence. We honor the sacred interdependent web of all existence. We covenant to protect (OMIT cherish) Earth and all beings by creating relationships of care and justice (OMIT respect). With humility and reverence, we acknowledge our place in the great web of life, and we work to repair harm and damaged relationships.
What is the reason for your amendment idea?
“cherish” is an empty passive word with no common meaning. Not an action word which we as UU’s value.
“respect” as in “relationships of care and respect”-- “care” is too similar to"respect" and is not an action that we see as transformative as the word “justice.”
**I LOVE that we state “Earth and all beings” because we are not alone on this Earth and need to respect all creatures.
