#192 | Nancy Egly | Add "to identify and quash..."

Submission 192
Nancy Egly
Valley UU Congregation (Chandler, AZ) 2015

What is your suggestion or idea?

This is my first of two suggestions.

Add to the new purposes this rewrite of the new C-2.1 after quoted phrase:

“…to heal historic injustices”, to identify and quash oppressive behaviors toward marginalized individuals and groups within our congregations and in society at large. Motivated by liberating love, we foster human wholeness while freely offering Unitarian Universalism to others through our words and our deeds.

What is the reason for your amendment idea?

In addition to the above, I am progressing through the document with the intent of restoring the current principles and sources with a minor change in the introductory phrase for those while removing the new sections C-2.2 and C-2.3.

Have you discussed this idea with your congregation or other UUs?

We have had multiple meetings in small and large groups concerning Article II. Ten meetings would not over estimate. I have attended at least 5 of the meetings.
