I find Dick Burkhart’s ideas to be an inspired defense of liberal religion, continuing our UU tradition of supporting a liberal platform and faith community for each person to develop through their own free and responsible search for truth and meaning.
Have you discussed this idea with your congregation or other UUs?
Thanks Erik. I’m not sure I completely agree with it. But it does seem to make some efforts to honor both what the Commission is proposing AND the current Principles and Sources. That’s what I am personally looking for in any Amendments or complete re-writes.
I agree that this is far better than the Commission’s proposal – clearer, less wordy, and retains the principles, while also trying to address some of the concerns reflected in the Commission’s proposal .And it is an improvement over the current Article II.
Much better than the proposal from the UUA Commission. We need a careful and gradual refinement of the document that we have lived with up to now, and this illustrates a good direction to go.
