A thoughtful discussion. Inherently now seems to be to be a more powerful and affirming word than “inherent.”
With deep family roots in the Universalist side of our heritage, I have long identified strongly with the First Principle of our old Article 2. I recognize the concerns that have been raised with the phrase “inherent worth” but was always dissatisfied with the feel of the “worthiness” replacement. This amendment does a beautiful job of addressing concerns while retaining the feel of poetry. I strongly encourage my fellow delegates to vote “yes.”

Honestly I don’t see enough of a difference between the existing language and the proposed changes. It seems as the intent is pretty clear that everyone is inherently worthy. Unitarian Universalism embraces that already.
