My roommate in my sophomore year of college was from CA and had grown up in the Unitarian church and we had lots of chances to talk about RE experiences (mine being in the Christian Church in KY) and went to services once in Minneapolis. I married someone who felt the same way and we joined several churches and were founders in two fellowships when moving while he was in the USAF. I have had leadership positions in all the congregations I have been part of and for many years was the RE person as well. Governance is important to me and language is critical in communication and community building.
