I am 85 and have been a UU for most of my life. I love what we say it stands for in our UU documents. I am a UU evangelist. I also believe that democracy as expressed in the ideals and structures in the founding documents of our country are an expression of UU values and the best that humanity has devised for people to govern themselves. That human self-governance has been imperfect is no surprise. Condemning it as white supremacist is throwing out the baby with the bathwater. Likewise, capitalism has birthed innovations for organizations and food supply that kept population growth from resulting in mass starvation and authoritarian world domination. Anyone who says police are unnecessary lives in a future world far removed from current reality. Faith in the divine in each of us leads to faith that our evolving economy and government will eventually lead to an economy and government that are equitable.
