I’m Sasha Briar Gast, and I’m a white non-binary, genderfluid, and trans person who is also aromantic and asexual (aroace). I’m in my mid 30’s, and I belong to the Unitarian Universalist Church of Indianapolis, located on the lands of the Kaskaskia, Kiikaapoi, and Myaamia peoples.
I am disabled and autistic, and I have ADHD, multiple severe mental illnesses, and multiple physical autoimmune conditions. I use a cane and a wheelchair.
Before I became disabled, I was a freshwater environmental scientist working in a state environmental agency. I am still active in ecology, native plants and biodiversity, and other environmental circles.
I am also an administrator of a worldwide transgender, non-binary, and gender diverse, advocacy group. As a scientist, I research and write articles on various trans topics, including puberty blockers for youth, what kinds of treatment youth and teenagers can receive, HRT, mental health, surgeries, safe binding techniques, and more.
In addition to my advocacy work for the LGBTQIA+ community and on native plants, I enjoy playing cozy video games, reading with my dog Kaia, and making affordable hemp pride bracelets that I sell on Etsy!
