What is your suggestion or idea?
Retain the current 7 Principles and Sources and add the 8th Principle as previously formulated to emphasize our commitment to dealing with structural racism.
What is the reason for your amendment idea?
The 7 Principles with the addition of an 8th will continue to be a clear and concise statement of our values as a denomination. The proposed Article II is deficient in that it makes no mention of the value expressed in current Principal 6; further in its wordiness it fails to inspire and create the commitment to action that is desired. In addition the reduction of the current Sources to a general statement is so vague as to be useless as a guideline to develop our spirituality.

Yes, our congregation has studied the proposed new version in detail. We have provided programs to inform and educate our members.
